To pay NBI clearance using GCash, first apply and book your appointment on the official NBI clearance website, choose an e-payment option, then pay in the GCash app using your reference number. Keep the receipt or screenshot: you will need the reference number at your appointment, together with two valid government-issued IDs.
This guide covers the whole process, the fee, the mistakes to avoid and what to bring to the branch.
How to pay NBI using GCash: the full process
- Register on the NBI clearance website. First-time applicants answer "No" when asked if they had an old clearance.
- Fill in the application form with the same details as on your IDs.
- Choose a branch and appointment slot. Available slots are shown on the calendar.
- Select your payment option. Choose GCash or the e-payment option that lists GCash.
- Note your reference number. You need it to pay and to enter the branch.
- Pay in the GCash app. Follow the payment link or open the bills or e-payment section, enter the reference number and confirm the amount.
- Save the receipt. Screenshot it and keep the SMS or email confirmation.
- Go to your appointment with the reference number and two valid IDs.
The menu labels in the app can change. If you cannot find the NBI option, follow the instructions shown on the NBI website for the e-payment option you selected.
How to pay NBI clearance using GCash without problems
- Book first, pay second. Paying without a valid reference number can leave your money stuck.
- Check the reference number twice. One wrong digit can send the payment to the wrong application.
- Have enough balance. Cash in before you start, so the payment does not fail halfway. Our guide to GCash cash in and cash out explains the options.
- Avoid peak outages. If the app is slow, check whether GCash is down today before retrying, so you do not pay twice.
NBI clearance fee
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Clearance fee | ₱130 |
| System fee | ₱30 |
| Total | ₱160 |
These are the amounts the NBI has published; always check the total shown on the website when you apply. Some e-payment channels may add a small convenience fee.
First-time job seekers can get one free clearance under RA 11261 by selecting that option during registration and presenting a barangay certificate stating six months of residency and first-time job seeker status.
Rules to know before you pay
- No rescheduling after payment. Once you pay, the appointment is fixed.
- Missed your appointment? The NBI has allowed a grace period at the same branch; check the current rules on the website.
- No walk-ins. You need the reference number from your online application.
- Payment is for that application only. It cannot be transferred to someone else.
What to bring to your appointment
- Your reference number or payment receipt (a screenshot is usually enough).
- Two valid government-issued IDs, original, not expired and with a clear photo. Examples include passport, driver's licence, UMID and PRC ID. Company IDs and barangay clearances are not accepted as IDs.
- For first-time job seekers, the barangay certificate.
At the branch, your photo and biometrics are taken. If there is a "hit" (a name match in the records), release can take longer.
Validity
An NBI clearance is valid for up to one year from issue, depending on its purpose; employers sometimes ask for one issued within the last six months. Check the date before you submit it.
Safety tips
- Use only the official NBI clearance website. Fake "fixer" pages and social media offers charge extra or steal data.
- Never share your GCash MPIN or OTP. For problems with a payment, use the official GCash Help Center.
E-wallets, payments and prediction markets
GCash is useful for government payments like this, but funding a prediction market works differently. On Polymarket, deposits are crypto sent to your deposit address on a supported network, not a transfer from an e-wallet; read how to deposit on Polymarket and what a stablecoin is. If you want to set up your wallet first, see how to buy load in GCash. Availability in the country is covered on Philippines.
