GCash cash in cash out comes down to two moves: cash in adds money to your GCash wallet, and cash out takes it back out as cash or moves it to a bank. Some cash-in methods are free and others charge a fee, and over-the-counter cash-ins are free only up to PHP 8,000 per month. Knowing which method to use saves you money every time you top up.
Below are the main methods, the fees listed by GCash, the ways to cash out and a few habits that keep your account safe.
GCash cash in: the main methods and fees
The GCash Help Center lists these cash-in methods and fees:
| Method | Fee |
|---|---|
| Over-the-counter (OTC) partners | Free up to PHP 8,000 per month; 2% on the amount above that |
| Linked bank account (InstaPay cash-in) | Charged by some banks, e.g. PHP 15 for BPI and PHP 10 for UnionBank |
| Online banking (InstaPay or PESONet) | Handling fees may apply |
| PayPal | 1% of the amount (from March 7, 2026) |
| Payoneer | Free |
| Remittance | Free |
| GCash Pera Outlet | Suggested 1% of the amount, minimum PHP 100; each outlet sets its own fee |
The PHP 8,000 free limit applies only to over-the-counter cash-ins and resets on the 1st of each month. If you cash in PHP 10,000 over the counter in one month, the 2% fee applies to the PHP 2,000 above the limit, which is PHP 40.
Fees change over time, so check the current table in the app or in the GCash Help Center before a large cash-in.
A worked example: cashing in PHP 5,000
Using the fees listed by GCash, the same PHP 5,000 cash-in costs very different amounts:
| Method | Fee on PHP 5,000 |
|---|---|
| Over-the-counter, within the monthly limit | PHP 0 |
| Linked BPI account | PHP 15 |
| Linked UnionBank account | PHP 10 |
| PayPal (1%) | PHP 50 |
| GCash Pera Outlet (suggested 1%, minimum PHP 100) | PHP 100 |
| Payoneer or remittance | PHP 0 |
The difference adds up if you cash in several times a month: four PayPal cash-ins of PHP 5,000 cost PHP 200 in fees, while the same amount over the counter would cost nothing, up to the PHP 8,000 monthly limit, and 2% only on the part above it. The cheapest option is not always the most convenient, but it is worth knowing before you choose.
How to cash in GCash at an over-the-counter partner
- Check that the store is an official GCash cash-in partner.
- Give the cashier your GCash number and the amount, or follow the store's own process.
- Pay in cash and keep the receipt.
- Check that the amount appears in your GCash balance before leaving.
How to cash out GCash
There are several ways to get money out of GCash:
- Transfer to a bank account or another e-wallet. Done in the app; transfers may carry a fee depending on the method.
- Withdraw with a GCash Card. The GCash Card is a prepaid Visa card linked to your wallet, so you can use it where Visa cards are accepted; ATM fees and limits depend on the machine and the card's terms.
- Cash out at partner outlets, where available.
Always check the fee and the recipient's details on the confirmation screen. A transfer to the wrong account number is difficult to reverse.
GCash cash in cash out: quick comparison
| Cash in | Cash out | |
|---|---|---|
| What it does | Adds money to your wallet | Takes money out of your wallet |
| Cheapest options | Free methods such as OTC within the monthly limit, Payoneer or remittance | Depends on the method and your bank |
| Main risk | Fees above the free limit | Wrong account number, card or ATM fees |
| Proof to keep | Store receipt or reference number | Transfer reference number |
Tips to avoid paying more
- Plan your cash-ins so that over-the-counter top-ups stay within PHP 8,000 a month.
- Compare bank fees: different banks charge different InstaPay cash-in fees.
- Batch your transfers instead of sending many small ones, if each carries a fee.
- Check before PayPal cash-ins, since the fee is a percentage of the amount.
Staying safe
Nobody from GCash will ask for your OTP, MPIN or password. Ignore messages claiming you must "verify" a cash-in or pay a fee to release funds. If a transaction is missing or wrong, report it through the official Help Center with the reference number.
GCash and prediction markets
People sometimes ask whether they can cash in GCash and use it directly on a prediction market. On Polymarket, deposits are crypto sent to your deposit address on a supported network, not an e-wallet transfer, and withdrawals go back to a crypto wallet. Read how to deposit on Polymarket and how to withdraw from Polymarket, and check Philippines for availability. If you only need to top up your phone, see how to buy load in GCash.
